The Big Bang Goes Poof

The Big Bang Goes Poof briefly summarizes a Cambridge Press book (A Different Approach to Cosmology) which calls into question the validity of the Big Bang theory of origins. The article summarizes in bullet fashion how the authors of that book dismantle the evidence which has supposedly supported the interpretation of a Big Bang theory of origins.

Although it is helpful to be made aware of alternative interpretations for such things as the red phenomenon in the universe,(normally identified as a red shift) the purpose of the article is to briefly remind us of the fundamental difference between science that is testable and verifiable in contrast to historical narratives of the past which are built upon assumptions and interpretations. The conclusions of such stories can be no more reliable than the assumptions and interpretations upon which they are built. It will be interesting to watch what the scientific community does with the new interpretations from this book which are intended to destroy the Big Bang theory.

The Origin of Life According to Evolution

(AnEvaluation of the Reductive Atmospheric Model for the Synthesis ofAmino Acids)

The Origin of Life According to Evolution examines the evolutionist's claim that the primitive earth's atmosphere did not contain any oxygen. With current scientific understanding, life could have only begun naturalistically if a non oxygen atmosphere prevailed upon the primitive earth enabling the formation of the first building blocks of life (amino acids). The evidence, however, not only suggests that this special atmosphere never existed, but that the proposed model would be impotent in creating the necessary amino acids. The article contains ample quotes and documentation.

The Philosophy of Science as it Relates to Evolution

What is the nature of evolution? The Philosophy of Science as it Relates to Evolution begins with an evolutionist's attempt to define evolution as science (Dr. Earnest Mayr of Harvard University). However, even Dr. Mayr admits that evolution is "historical narrative" (a story) and furthermore that it is difficult if not impossible to falsify this story (something which is not true for the empirical sciences or scientific statements). This article explains the real nature of evolution and why it won't go away even if there is "scientific evidence" against it.

Sometimes evolutionists have appealed to forensic science as a means of "proving" that evolution is actually a branch of science. An illustration in this article places the evolutionist and the creationist in their true roles - namely, "lawyers" telling the "jury" a story based upon an interpretation of the scientific evidence.

The Achilles Heel of Interpreting the Past

Examples ranging from Mt. Saint Helens to radioisotope dating illustrate why it is difficult for scientists to reconstruct history. Rather than interpret the evidence based upon its own merit, the temptation can exist to interpret the evidence in light of what is assumed to be "the right framework" in order to substantiate a particular story about the past.

A Lesson From A Law Professor

This brief recounting of my encounter with Dr. Phillip E. Johnson presents his warning against framing the discussion as "evolution verses creationism." Also, a brief review of some of the factors leading Dr. Johnson to become a staunch adversary of macro-evolution.

Job's Dinosaurs???

The Bible references dinosaur like creatures.  The best description of such an animal is in the book of Job chapter 40. Estimates place the writing of the book of Job to be after the flood, and approximately 2,000 years before Jesus was born.   "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feed on grass like an ox.  What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly.  His tail sways like a cedar, the sinews of his thighs are close knit.  His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.   He ranks first among the works of God..."
Job 40:15 - 19 [NIV]

The ancient name behemoth means kingly, gigantic beast.  The Bible also uses the name tannin.  Tannin is a term which includes dragon like animals and great sea creatures.  Cedar trees were some of the largest and most magnificent trees of the ancient world, and God compared behemoth's tail to the cedar!  Some people have tried to match behemoth's description to large animals of today such as the elephant, or the hippopotamus, but no modern land animal has a tail that could be compared to a tall, thick cedar!
